During our recent Leadership Summit, we hosted conversations about growth beginning with ownership.

The local Women’s Employee Resource Group organized an open discussion about recognizing strengths, owning achievements, and shaping individual career paths.

Later, during the Leadership Summit, we gathered women leaders from across our global organization for breakfast with Maxine Mauricio from our Board of Directors, creating space for candid dialogue about leadership and advancement.

Across both gatherings, a common theme emerged: Believing in yourself is essential to advancing your career.

Leadership Is Earned Through Action

Sarah Betadam, our Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, shared reflections from her own journey. She spoke about career pivots, leading in environments where she was often the only woman in engineering roles, and the importance of shaping your own path rather than waiting for opportunities to be handed to you. Her message was clear: You earn your path, and you should feel proud of it.

At Novanta, leadership is not defined solely by title. It is defined by impact. Sarah’s journey from VP of Business Applications to our first CIO and later our first CISO reflects our commitment to empowering leaders who drive meaningful change.

The Power of Shared Experience

Despite differences in geography, culture, and function, participants in Barcelona echoed the same insight: Confidence fuels growth.

By creating space for honest conversations, we reinforce a culture where individuals take ownership of their development, support one another’s growth, and step into new opportunities with courage.

We remain committed to fostering leadership at every level, encouraging thoughtful risk-taking, and ensuring that every employee feels empowered to help shape the future of our organization.

When individuals grow with confidence, our entire organization moves forward.
