Submitting your application

Always follow the directions on the specific job posting, as our application processes vary by location. It will ask you either to send your resume to us by email or complete an online application form. If you apply by email, we ask you to include your name and the job title in the subject line, along with your resume. If you’re applying via an online form, simply complete the required fields and attach your resume that way.

The interview process

If you ‘re invited for an interview, this means that we see you as a potentially great candidate for the position. We’ll be reaching out to you shortly after this to arrange a phone interview where we’ll be looking to learn more about your skills, experience, and career goals.

Following that, we’ll be building a shortlist of interview candidates based on the profile of the role, and your qualifications and experience. You might have more than one interview, either by phone or in person. If you’re successful, and are invited to attend an in person interview, here are some tips to help you prepare:

Research us! Check out our website and social media platforms to gather as much information as you can about us. This shows us that you’re interested in a career at Novanta, and of course, helps you decide if we’re the right fit for you and your goals.

Practice common interview questions: Look up lists of typical interview questions online and think about how you’d answer them.

We’ll be looking to explore and understand how you perform and behave in various scenarios, so give plenty of thought to how you’ve handled situations in the past and help us to understand how you might react in the future. Using the STAR method might help you to think of examples (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

Background checks

In the more advanced stages of your application, we may need to conduct background and reference checks, as well as education verification. You may also be asked to provide references, so think carefully about people who can give a true and accurate account of your amazing talent!
 
During this process, we’re always looking to get as much of an understanding of who you are as a person, so if you’ve provided social media information on your resume, then we’ll be looking for consistency between those profiles and your application.

The job offer

Offers of employment are sent out either by phone or email. If by phone, you can expect a follow-up email with the details of the job offer, including salary, start date and benefits.
