General Data Privacy Statement

This Privacy Policy describes the Personal Data we may collect from you; how we use, disclose and process it; how we protect it; and the rights and choices you have regarding your personal data. The personal data that we collect about you depends on the context of your interactions with us, the products. services and features that you use, your location, and applicable law.

This privacy policy covers Novanta Inc. and its group companies, business units and brands (“Novanta,” “we,” “our” or “us”) including ATI Industrial Automation Inc., Cambridge Technology (including ARGES, Exotec Precision and Lincoln), Celera Motion (including Applimotion, Ingenia, MicroE, Westwind and Zettlex), JADAK (including Cognex, General Scanning Printer Technologies, Motion Solutions, PhotoResearch, SkyeTek, ThingMagic), Laser Quantum, NDS (including Med X Change), Reach Technology, Synrad, WOM, and Keonn Technologies.

This Statement applies to the Personal Data (defined below) that we process when you use this website, our other websites and services or products that reference this Statement (collectively, our “Services”), and when you otherwise interact with us as described in more detail below.

“Personal Data” refers to information that identifies, relates to, describes or can reasonably be linked to an identified or identifiable individual. This includes direct identifiers (for example name, email address, etc.) and indirect identifiers (for example IP addresses, device and browser information, etc.)

Types of Data We Collect

When you interact with us, we may collect Personal Data such as:

  • Contact Information, including your name, company name, job title, address, e-mail address, and phone number.
  • Device Information, including browser and device type, IP address, operating system, device identifiers, internet service provider, and other technical data required for secure website access.
  • Website Interactions, including information about your interactions with our website such as pages visited, links or buttons clicked, or information about your preferences, such as your preferred methods of communication and product types in which you are interested.

Why We Collect Your Data

  • To provide you with access to specific information or offers that you have requested;
  • To support sales and marketing activities by providing information you with information about Novanta products, services, transactions and advertisements that may be of interest to you;
  • Providing you with a more consistent experience in interacting with Novanta, including by learning more about you and how you use and interact with Novanta’s Services;
  • Planning, managing, and performing under our contractual relationships with you, our vendors and suppliers;
  • Responding to questions or inquiries that you make, including customer service requests; and
  • Maintaining the security of and otherwise protecting our services

We do not knowingly collect, sell or share personal information (including sensitive personal information) of individuals under 16 years of age.

DISCLOSURE AND TRANSFER OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We do not sell your email address or other identifiable data to third parties. However, we may share your Personal Data to certain third parties, including;

  • Novanta’s business units and subsidiaries: We may share your Personal Data to affiliates within the Novanta corporate structure consistent with this Policy and in connection with your use of our online offerings or our business relationship with you;
  • Service providers: We may share your Personal Data with service providers who provide services to us, including, but not limited to, sales channel partners and IT providers, and who process data only for the purpose of providing the services;
  • Other Third Parties: We may share your Personal data for legal purposes where it is required by law, disclosure of such data is necessary to comply with regulations or to government authority requests, or where the data is needed to protect our interests or to exercise or defend legal claims.

Novanta operates in many countries globally. In some cases, Novanta may transmit or store your Personal Data in other countries. We will only transfer your Personal Data as allowed by applicable data protection laws and for the purposes detailed in this Privacy Policy.

Where your Personal Data is transferred to another country, we implement appropriate contractual, administrative, technical and organizational measures to ensure adequate safeguards and protections are applied to protect your Personal Data during such transfers. Where required by law, these safeguards may include the use of Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission (2021 SCCs), the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (UK IDTA), and the completion of Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs) for transfers to the United States and other jurisdictions following the Schrems II decision. We may also obtain written assurances from any third party who receive Personal Data, requiring them to maintain appropriate standards that ensure an equivalent level of protection for your Personal Data as that adopted by Novanta and as required under applicable data protection laws.

Any feedback, information or materials submitted to Novanta through or in association with its websites (“Submissions”) shall be considered confidential by Novanta. Novanta is committed to ensuring the protection of your Personal Data. As such, we have implemented administrative and technical safeguards to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use and disclosure. Such safeguards are evaluated on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with applicable laws and to minimize risks from security risks as we become aware of them. We require our service providers and vendors to implement and maintain appropriate safeguards to protect Personal Data. We also monitor their security posture on an ongoing basis and ensure they meet contractual and regulatory requirements.

Duration of Storage
