Novanta’s Commitment to Sustainability: 
Achieving Net Zero Operational GHG Emissions 
and Promoting Renewable Energy ​

We are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability across all our operations. Our ambitious goal is to achieve net zero operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. We have set short-term and medium-term targets to reduce our GHG emission intensity and increase the share of renewable sources in our energy mix.

Key Environmental Achievements

GHG Emissions Reduction: We have successfully reduced our total market-based Scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 35% compared to 2023.

Renewable Electricity: In 2024, 67% of our electricity consumption came from renewable sources, and we continue to seek opportunities to increase this percentage.

NovantaSUSTAIN: We successfully held NovantaSUSTAIN Days focused on eco-design and product lifecycle assessment, integrated sustainability criteria into product design processes, and developed sustainable packaging solutions.

Our employees are our most important asset. We strive to promote a culture characterized by inclusivity and a strong sense of belonging. Equally important, we strive to keep our people motivated and engaged by setting high standards and providing ongoing learning and development opportunities.

As an innovation-driven company, we believe that fostering an inclusive culture that promotes belonging and values diverse perspectives is essential to realizing our vision of delivering innovation that matters.

Key Social Achievements

NovantaCARES: Increased our NovantaCARES participation rate to approximately 33% of our employees joining at least one NovantaCARES community engagement event. Over 60 employees and leaders were involved in organizing these events.​

Best talents: Hired, developed, and promoted the best talent regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or disability status.

Learning & Development: Provided tailored learning and development programs for more than 450 employees.

ERG festival: Over 1,000 employees across 13 of our sites participated in our first-ever inclusivity and community festival that was led by our Employee Resource Groups (ERG), which are open to all employees.​

Sustainability is an essential element in our continued growth, so the responsibility for managing and making decisions on these topics has been placed with our most senior leaders, the Novanta Leadership Team, under the oversight of our Board of Directors.

As we advance on our sustainability journey, we are embedding sustainability considerations throughout our operations. At the same time, we are integrating sustainability into our policies and procedures at a global level and cascading them across the organization.
