Medical Robotics
The medical robotics revolution is well in effect, and surgical robotics platforms are being widely adopted due to the complementary advantages to minimally invasive procedures. Novanta manufactures a series of technologies that are integrated deeply into the surgical robotic systems. These include customizable servo drives, force torque sensors, and unique machine vision camera technology, which together deliver the requisite precision, compactness, reliability, and customization flexibility that has led to us being regarded as a market leader in the field of motor and control technology for these incredible mission-critical applications.
Ophthalmology & OCT
Optical Coherence Tomography, commonly known as OCT, is a noninvasive imaging test that allows eye care professionals to take detailed, cross-sectional pictures of the retina — the part of the eye responsible for vision. Using scanned laser light, OCT captures micrometer-resolution, three-dimensional images from within the retina which in turn help in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.
Novanta has a long association with ophthalmic applications, and provides a series of camera and scanning technologies to a number of the processes that are used in this field, including Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (SLO) and active techniques such as Laser Assisted In-situ Keratomileusis (LASIK)
