Confidence, engineered.
System engineers in the rapidly expanding precision medicine and diagnostic instrument industry face a number of challenges….
On one side, the optomechanical challenges are complex, and on the other, design and function can make it challenging to build a device that is significantly differentiated from competing systems, whilst at the same time delivering industry leading performance. Our Precision Medicine teams are dedicated exclusively to working engineer-to-engineer with our customers to address this.
With unique expertise and products founded on sensors, laser technology, positioning and imaging, we develop industry leading, embedded solutions that power next generation applications such as DNA and proteomic sequencing, automated microscopy, in addition to many other automated cellular excitation and emission applications.
Integrated Light Engines
The heart of any excitation based system starts with creating the precise wavelengths of light required to fluoresce the sample array, whether that be an individual cancer cell or a DNA chain. Due to the many types of fluorescent footprints involved, many different wavelengths of light are required to achieve the required illumination profile. With over 30 years experience in building high performance laser sources, we’ve learned precisely how to produce, shape, multiplex and deliver the required photons precisely where they need to be with reliability and with perfect timing. It’s for this reason that you’ll find our light and motion engine technologies at the heart of the world’s most advanced genomic, proteomic and next generation automated microscopy systems. Positioning Engines
Whether advancing a probe with sub-micron accuracy across a well plate, or counting the number of cancer cells that survive exposure to a candidate oncology drug, life science instrumentation makes broad use of motion technology.
Novanta specializes in custom, application-specific engineered solutions for embedded motion control and sample positioning engines. Our expertise extends from electromechanical design, prototyping, all the way to volume manufacturing and full, seamless integration with our light engine. While we handle thousands of motion control subsystems annually, our true expertise lies in designing and manufacturing highly complex, custom electromechanical subsystems.
Embedded Vision
At the heart of our Precision Medicine expertise is our embedded vision and sub system integration capability. Within this area, we combine deep capabilities in optical design with a comprehensive understanding of sensor resolution and diffraction limitations in order to be able to develop complete optical imaging engines designed precisely to achieve the requisite levels of image resolution.
