Going Above and Beyond
Laurel Purdy, VP of Finance, nominated Mihaela for her outstanding contributions and willingness to go above and beyond to support her colleagues. While developing some new reporting tools, Laurel reached out to Mihaela for guidance. Mihaela not only addressed the immediate reporting needs but also shared best practices and taught Laurel how to use tools and tactics to simplify the process. By investing this extra effort, Mihaela ensured that Laurel could streamline workflows and train others in the future. These improvements also benefit the R&D team, which now uses the improved reporting system for daily management. By creating an easy-to-refresh, accessible report, Mihaela made everyone’s jobs easier.
Multiplying Success
Mihaela humbly noted that her contribution to this project was not extraordinary, but rather part of an ongoing commitment to serve as a true corporate partner. She is focused on both training initiatives and providing support to strengthen processes and drive organizational efficiency. She sees this award as a recognition of the type of support her team strives to provide. As she leads by example and shows the long-term benefits of investing in others even if there’s not an immediate return, Mihaela believes these efforts will multiply our success.

Laurel describes Mihaela as someone with a natural passion for helping and teaching others, not just doing the work for them. When someone asks a question, Mihaela answers and educates. This strength has been recognized throughout her career; she is committed to ensuring that everyone around her has the support they need to succeed. Whether it’s training a colleague, solving problems, or even jumping onto the production floor to count inventory, Mihaela is always ready to roll up her sleeves.

Each month, employees at our Bedford location have the opportunity to nominate colleagues who demonstrate our core values. Mihaela recognizes that many employees at Novanta deserve to be nominated and show up every day in The Novanta Way. Receiving this nomination inspired her to make it a priority to submit more nominations before year-end. Mihaela truly values the people she works with and the camaraderie across the team: “We do what we said we’re going to do: be a great team. It’s really visible and palpable.”
