At our Taunton site, employees have turned a simple idea into a powerful expression of The Novanta Way: a Wall of Appreciation that spotlights gratitude, kindness, and inclusion in a visible, everyday way.
The initiative started with Operations Administrator Charlotte Fursdon, who wanted to create something people would see each time they grabbed a coffee, walked to a meeting, or passed through the main corridor. She wanted a reminder—front and center—that appreciation is part of how we work together.
“We wanted something you couldn’t miss,” Charlotte shared. “A place where you immediately see that small actions matter and that colleagues notice the good in each other.”
The Wall of Appreciation invites employees to write short notes acknowledging a teammate—celebrating anything from hitting a production milestone to offering support during a busy shift. The notes are posted publicly, creating a steady rotation of uplifting messages that bring new energy into the site.
Engagement quickly took off. Roughly one-third of the Taunton team participates regularly, and Charlotte updates the wall every few weeks to keep it fresh. As she describes it, participation grows organically: “Some people might hesitate at first, but once they see others writing messages, they join in. It breaks down barriers and reminds us that appreciation is free—and it makes a big difference.”
Leaders are now using the board as an additional tool to reinforce recognition within the business. Managers highlight team achievements, celebrate production successes, or call out moments of exceptional collaboration. It blends personal appreciation with professional accomplishment, strengthening teamwork and boosting morale across the site.
“It really helps people see that their efforts are noticed, no matter what role they have,” Charlotte said.
The Wall of Appreciation reflects who we are as One Novanta. By creating a welcoming space where people feel seen for their contributions and character, the Taunton team is modeling what it means to foster connection, recognition, and positivity—core elements of The Novanta Way.
