Strong teams are not built only in conference rooms or during project meetings. They are built through shared experiences, collaboration and the willingness to tackle challenges together.
Recently, employees from across business units gathered in New Hampshire for a team hike at Mt. Monadnock as part of the Walk it Out Steps Challenge, sponsored by the Black Employee Network (BEN). Known for its steep terrain and rewarding summit views, the mountain provided the perfect setting for employees to connect outside their everyday routines.
The hike challenged the team both physically and mentally. Along the trail, employees encouraged one another, navigated obstacles together and demonstrated the kind of resilience and teamwork that defines how we work across Novanta.
What made the experience especially valuable was the opportunity to strengthen cross-functional relationships in a different environment. Employees from different teams and business units spent time learning from one another, building new connections and reinforcing the collaborative mindset that supports One Novanta.
Experiences like this matter because strong collaboration does not happen by accident. It grows when people build trust, communicate openly and work toward shared goals together.
The summit was an accomplishment, but the bigger takeaway was the reminder that meaningful connections and strong teamwork often happen outside the normal flow of work. Those relationships ultimately make us stronger as teams, partners and problem-solvers.
