For many students, deciding what comes next after school can feel uncertain. For Stevie, a T-Level placement provided the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, apply classroom learning and discover a clear path forward.

Through our partnership with Stockport College in the UK, Stevie joined the company as part of the UK T-Level program, which combines academic study with meaningful industry experience. Over the course of his placement, he worked alongside manufacturing teams and developed technical skills, gaining exposure to multiple areas of the business.

What began as a student placement quickly evolved into something more.

Employees across the Stockport site consistently praised Stevie’s enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to learn. He embraced opportunities to work in different departments and asked thoughtful questions, actively seeking feedback to improve his skills.

The experience also helped connect classroom concepts with real-world applications.

“I could see all the learning that I did in college take place,” Stevie said. “I could put a picture to what I was actually learning, and everything clicked.”

Working alongside experienced employees allowed him to strengthen both technical and professional skills while gaining confidence in his future career direction.

Recognizing his potential, we offered Stevie a contract position following the completion of his T-Level qualification. He will now continue his development through a Level 4 apprenticeship while supporting the company’s growing product line.

The transition represents a significant milestone for both Stevie and the Stockport site, marking the first time a T-Level student has progressed directly from placement to a contract role and apprenticeship pathway with the company.

Programs like T-Levels play an important role in developing future engineering talent by providing students with opportunities to gain practical experience while building technical knowledge. By connecting education with industry, they help students make informed career decisions and prepare for long-term success.

Looking back on his experience, Stevie summarized his journey in three simple words: “Inspiring. Eye-opening. Brilliant.”

His story highlights what can happen when curiosity comes together with opportunity and support.

As advanced manufacturing continues to evolve, investing in future talent remains critical to building the next generation of engineers and innovators.
