Every step can create opportunity.
Recently, the Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) for the UK started an initiative called the Novanta Steppers, where employees participated in a fundraising step challenge benefiting Smart Works, a charity that helps women prepare for employment through career coaching, professional clothing and confidence-building support.
The challenge reflected a shared commitment to supporting women as they work toward new career opportunities and greater financial independence.
Smart Works has helped more than 10,000 women build confidence and prepare for interviews, with more than 68% of participants securing employment after receiving support.
Throughout the challenge, employees tracked their steps, shared photos and encouraged one another through a dedicated online community. What began as a fundraising effort quickly became an opportunity to strengthen connections across teams while supporting an important cause.
The experience highlighted how small actions can add up to meaningful impact. Every walk, run and mile contributed to raising awareness and funds that help women access the resources they need to succeed in the workforce.
The challenge also reflected the spirit of One Novanta. Employees from different teams and locations came together around a common goal, demonstrating how collaboration can extend beyond the workplace and into the communities where we live and work.
