During our recent Bring Your Child to Work Day at our Bedford, Massachusetts, site, we welcomed around 20 kids to experience our work firsthand. The goal was simple: Show how technology comes to life and why it matters.
The day began with a guided tour of our production floor, which gave the group a behind-the-scenes look at how precision technologies are built and tested. For many, it was their first exposure to advanced manufacturing.
We then brought innovation to life through a live laser demonstration. Seeing the technology in action helped connect abstract ideas to real-world applications.
To deepen that understanding, we introduced an RFID demonstration to show how physical systems and digital data work together, a concept that is increasingly important across industries from healthcare to automation.
Hands-on learning played a key role throughout the day. The kids built their own piggy banks, reinforcing the value of creativity and problem-solving. They also participated in an Earth Day clean-up, connecting innovation with responsibility and community impact.
The day concluded with a creative challenge. Each child designed their own laser concept and shared it with the group. The ideas were imaginative and thoughtful.
