Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming part of everyday work across industries. As organizations explore new ways to improve efficiency, accelerate innovation and make better decisions, one thing remains clear: Technology works best when paired with human expertise.

AI is already helping automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks, creating opportunities for employees to focus on higher-value work, such as problem-solving, collaboration, innovation and strategic thinking. Like previous technology shifts, from the internet to cloud computing, AI is changing how work gets done, not eliminating the need for talented people.

The most successful organizations will be those that combine technology with human judgment. AI can process information quickly and identify patterns, but people provide the context, creativity, accountability and decision-making that drive meaningful outcomes. This is especially important when it comes to accuracy, data privacy, security and responsible use.

As AI capabilities continue to evolve, adaptability and continuous learning will become increasingly important. Employees who embrace new tools, develop new skills, and remain open to change will be best positioned to thrive in the future of work.

At Novanta, we are expanding access to AI tools across the organization while maintaining a thoughtful approach to governance and security. Employees already have access to Copilot, with additional tools such as Claude, Gemini and GitHub, being evaluated and piloted across various teams.

The goal is not simply to adopt AI for its own sake. It is to empower employees to work smarter, solve more complex challenges, and create greater value for customers.

The future of work will be shaped by both technology and people. AI is an important tool, but our expertise, creativity, judgment and ability to collaborate will continue to be what drives innovation forward.
