Strong quality systems are built on expertise. Great quality cultures are built on collaboration.

That distinction became especially clear during a recent ISO audit at our Mukilteo site, where employees from multiple locations came together to support a successful outcome.

One employee who made a significant impact was Kim Mejia, a quality leader based in Bedford, Massachusetts, whose contributions earned peer recognition for exemplifying the value of being a great team.

According to those she supported, Kim’s influence extended beyond technical expertise. She approached challenges as a partner and helped teams understand requirements, improving processes and building confidence in their own capabilities.

Throughout the audit process, Kim balanced responsibilities across multiple sites while dedicating substantial time to mentoring employees and strengthening quality management practices. Her willingness to step in to provide guidance and share knowledge helped create alignment across teams and reinforced a culture of continuous improvement.

What makes this type of leadership particularly powerful is that it creates sustainable success. Rather than simply solving problems for others, collaborative leaders help teams develop the skills, understanding and ownership needed to solve future challenges themselves.

In global organizations, this kind of knowledge sharing is essential. Expertise does not reside in one location. By connecting employees across sites and functions, organizations can accelerate learning and strengthen consistency which improves execution.

We see this every day through One Novanta. Employees regularly share expertise across regions and business units, helping teams achieve more together than they could individually.

Stories like Kim’s remind us that some of the most meaningful contributions happen behind the scenes. They happen when employees invest their time, experience and energy in helping others succeed.

That is how strong teams are built and that is how organizations continue to grow stronger over time.
