Employee resource groups (ERGs) are often known for the programs and initiatives they organize. For me, their real value lies in something deeper: the relationships they help create.
That was the inspiration behind this year’s ERG Summer Bash in Syracuse.
Hosted by the Women’s ERG, the Novanta Professionals Network, and the Environmental Sustainability Affinity Group, the event brought employees together for an afternoon of food and games, conversation.
Each of our ERGs serves a unique purpose. The Women’s ERG focuses on creating opportunities for support and growth. The Novanta Professionals Network helps employees build relationships and strengthen their professional development. The Environmental Sustainability Affinity Group promotes environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives. While our missions differ, we all share a commitment to helping employees feel connected and engaged.

The Summer Bash included a local Mediterranean food truck, lawn games, kickball, and a dunk tank. This event was a reflection of the collaboration behind it. Representatives from all three ERGs worked together to plan the experience, sharing ideas and responsibilities while focusing on a common goal: fostering support and connection.
For the organizers, one of the highlights was hearing employees express their appreciation for the event. Simple moments like those remind us why employee engagement efforts matter. That’s what we’re most proud of from this year’s Summer Bash, and why the work of our ERGs continues to matter.
