The robotics industry is evolving quickly, and some of the most important signals about what’s coming next emerge through direct conversation among industry leaders.

At the A3 Business Forum,  Ajaiey Sharma, Vice President and General Manager of our Robotics & Automation business, joined executives, technologists, and policymakers for two days of in-depth discussion focused on robotics adoption, market outlooks, and emerging applications. The forum’s agenda-driven format makes it less about product showcases and more about understanding where the industry is headed.

One clear message from this year’s event was renewed optimism across several core markets, including food production, life sciences, electronics, and aerospace. At the same time, robotics continues to expand beyond traditional manufacturing environments into warehousing, logistics, agriculture, and construction, applications that demand higher levels of intelligence, adaptability, and safety.

Another area drawing increased attention was the role of humanoid and mobile robotic systems in future manufacturing environments. While still early in adoption, discussions highlighted meaningful progress in perception, force sensing, and motion control, capabilities that will be essential for robots designed to operate in human-centric spaces.

Robert Little, Chief of Robotics Strategy, had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion at the forum, where we explored how manufacturers and technology providers are navigating these shifts, balancing innovation with real-world deployment challenges. The conversation reinforced that the future of automation will be shaped not by a single breakthrough, but by the convergence of technologies, partnerships, and practical application.

As robotics adoption accelerates, forums like A3 serve as an important reminder: the future of automation isn’t driven by a single breakthrough, but by the convergence of technologies, markets, and partnerships working together.
