Designed to be build around your machine, our 3-axis modular scan head can be easily taken apart to fit into your system for a truly customized solution. Packed with the highest speed, accuracy and support for different system integration options, our LIGHTNING™ II scan heads are optimized for demanding applications requiring fast, precise scanning and continuous operation. They ensure high stability featuring nonstop, consistent performance, and offer substantial flexibility when processing over large work fields. This scan head is ideal for demanding laser material processing applications like additive manufacturing, micromachining, and converting. Our 3-axis modular solution is ideal for system engineers looking for a flexible, high-quality beam delivery solution that delivers high throughput and accuracy throughout the job, high quality finish of 3D parts and a flexible system integration.
Industry’s highest scanning speed
LIGHTNING ™ II achieves a jump speed of up to 50 rad-optical/sec with 30mm aperture mirrors, thanks to the ingenuity in the design of our lightweight Beryllium mirrors and powerful motors. This ensures parts are build with high throughput, reducing the costs to build parts.
High quality parts
LIGHTNING™ II features a digital encoder with 24-bit resolution and advanced digital servo model that ensures a scanning accuracy of 10µm or better, ensuring parts are built with high-fidelity to the design
Additive Manufacturing
- In complex applications like Additive Manufacturing, the physical size of the finished part, build rate and minimal feature size often dictates the complexity of the laser scanning system and its integration.
- We offer a wide range of scanning products that system integrators can choose from based on the trade-offs of various requirements. For example, a machine producing large, high-quality metal parts may require multiple 3-axis full-digital scan heads for high accuracy and stability. In addition to the various options of XY scanning sets and scan heads, adding intelligent scanning control offered by our ScanMaster Controller (SMC) orchestrates laser lasing with scanning motion, further improving accuracy, processing flexibility, and throughput.
Micromachining
For applications that require precise scanning in micro-spaces, our digital 3-axis scan head provides performance, accuracy without compromising in speed and continuous operation. Key features include:
- Fast step response time of 225 µsec @ 0.3mm step (f = 100mm)
- High field reliability with robust water cooling and adaptive thermal management
- Real-time position feedback with 24-bit GSBus communication (when combined with our ScanMaster controller solution)
Converting
Laser processing systems in converting applications require versatility to perform accurately and at high speeds. Our 3-axis scan heads ensure consistent laser spot quality for field sizes up to 1.5m x 1.5m with highly accurate beam positioning. When combining our laser scanning systems with our advanced ScanMaster controller product, OEMs fully optimize scanning performance for high throughput and continuous production with a true 2D mark-on-the-fly.
