Spectral measurements for display technologies necessitate precise wavelength calibration, which has significantly evolved through various methodologies. Traditional atomic vapor lamps, while commonly used, have shown limited accuracy in their calibration capabilities. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has achieved higher spectral accuracy using Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) technology. However, the frequent servicing required by this method makes it impractical for production environments. At Novanta, we have pioneered an innovative approach using solid-state emitters for the calibration of PR-1050 spectroradiometers. This method offers an optimal balance between precision in light and color measurements and practical implementation for spectral measurements in display technologies.
