Novanta’s high-precision inductive angle encoders are designed for robust, reliable absolute position measurement in harsh and challenging environments.

Robust, precise position measurement for harsh environments
IncOder® inductive angle encoders deliver true absolute digital angular position using a patented non-contact inductive technique (similar to a resolver), designed specifically for precision measurement where conditions are tough and accuracy still matters.
They’re ideally suited to environments where potentiometers, optical, or capacitive devices may prove unreliable

High-reliability inductive technology you can trust
Built around two flat-ring components (a powered Stator and a passive Rotor), IncOders generate a stable output that reports absolute position of the Rotor relative to the Stator, without requiring any motion to “find” position.
With a large bore and robust construction options (including IP67-rated versions), the technology is engineered for dependable performance even in the presence of dust, condensation, and other real-world contaminants.

Configurable to fit your mechanical, electrical, and system needs
IncOder inductive angle encoders do not require compliant or special couplings and the Rotor & Stator can simply be screwed to the host product. Precise mechanical mounting is not required and there are no bearings.
IncOders are available across multiple form factors, with extensive options across size, resolution, communications, connections, and mechanical formats so teams can tailor the encoder to the application rather than redesign around a sensor. With over 500 million product configuration options, it’s built for OEM flexibility from prototype through scale.

Extended accuracy options for higher accuracy and confidence at install
For applications that demand tighter precision, the Ultra IncOder™ builds on the same rugged form, fit, and function and delivers x2 accuracy improvement through production pre-calibration against a highly accurate reference to reduce inherent non-linearity. This approach delivers a step-up in accuracy and includes an accuracy certificate with each unit, giving teams both performance and traceability.
Field Calibration IncOder enables customers to maximize the accuracy performance of IncOder by removing errors associated with installation through in-situ calibration.
